CT Coronary Study Day

The study day is designed for a range of healthcare professionals who wish to enhance their knowledge on CT coronary imaging, specifically concentrating on the clinical presentation and referral process, image acquisition and radiological interpretation. The session will also cover how to run and set up a Radiographer led CT service and discussion about advance practice within CT.

Delivered by Clinical nurse specialists, Cardiac specialist CT Radiographers and Radiologists, the aim is to equip practitioners with skills to transfer into the workplace.

Info: This session explores the clinical presentation of patients attending chest pain clinics, providing essential context for radiographers involved in CT coronary imaging.

Info: The teaching session will cover key aspects of CT angiography, starting with its clinical applications and why it is used. It will then explain the basic principles of how CT angiography works.

Info: In the radiological image interpretation session, we will begin by discussing the normal and expected appearances for Cardiac CT, establishing a baseline for accurate assessment. Following this, we will cover how to structure and clearly communicate findings in a radiology report, with a focus on clarity and clinical relevance. The session will also highlight common pitfalls that can lead to misinterpretation, including technical and cognitive errors.

It will include an overview of advanced practice, referencing the four pillars of advanced clinical practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research. The session will outline the multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England, setting the context for radiographers working towards or currently in advanced roles.
