About this Event
PCN, which stands for Pilipinx Culture Night, is a performance that is staged by our organization. The performances often include a skit segment of PCN that would consist of a live theatrical performance of an in-depth portrayal of Filipino culture. The cultural dances are an additional significant component of PCN. The tribal and ritual dances of the indigenous people of the Philippines are brought to life in these live performances of the country's cultural dances. The overall and primary goal of this performance is to honor the indigenous culture of the Philippines through teaching both our contemporaries and the wider community.
“Makita Kang Muli” (trans. “To see you again”) tells the story of Maria Cristina Gonzalez Malayo (Maricris), a nursing student hailing from a low-income family, who is at a crossroads in life. Months after graduating, she finds herself pregnant and unsure of how to support herself and her family, much less a child. Desperate to give her daughter a chance at a better life, Maricris finds her way to the US - but is unfortunately deported and separated from her child soon after. “Makita Kang Muli” depicts the lengths that Maricris goes to in order to reunite with her child.
