The workshop not only covers all the learning objectives required by the Scrum Alliance for its Certified Scrum Product Owner CSPO® certification, but includes tools, tips, tricks, and practices to help establishing a vision for a new product and converting this vision into a manageable product backlog that the team would be able to convert into a great product. There is also no shortage of real live stories that the instructors share with the students so they can learn from their experience.   

If you are thinking about a boring PowerPoint based lecture, do not worry. This course is quite the opposite. It is very interactive – besides the short presentations to cover the concepts, you will spend over 50% of the time getting hands-on practice working in small virtual groups. We establish a psychologically safe environment where there is no such a thing as a silly question, and it is OK to experiment and make mistakes to learn from them.

All sessions include breaks of about 10 minutes each hour. Whole day sessions also include a mid-class break of about 45 minutes.

Sasha (Alexander) Frumkin calls himself a recovering developer and a Scrumoholic. Having started programming in Algol-60 in high school, he still codes for fun. Through his technical career, he can remember the pain of working long hours and weekends on "waterfall" projects with arbitrary plans imposed on the team. Luckily, he learned about the Agile Manifesto and Scrum in 2007 and hasn't looked back.

Sasha learned Scrum by doing it. He's orchestrated implementations of Scrum across multiple organizations, from handfuls to hundreds of teams, helping deliver innovative products in record time. He believes that Agility is the path to handling the complexity of our rapidly emerging world. Further, he believes the human-centricity of Scrum helps bring happiness to the workplace, and happy people are productive people. This entry-level course is appropriate for people with a Product Management or Project Management background, who would like to uncover new ways of being successful in today’s quickly emerging markets. We would also recommend it to the Scrum Masters, so they can be of a better service to their Product Owners. It's equally valuable for folks new to the world of Agile/Scrum, as well as people whose organizations have been practicing some form of Agile for a while and need a "reset."

• How soon can I get my CSPO® certification? On completing your participation in the full workshop, we will let the Scrum Alliance know of your successful completion of the course. You'll receive an email from them to setup your profile on the Scrum Alliance website and then you'll be a bonafide, official CSPO®!
• Wait! Don't I Need to Take an Exam to be Certified as a CSPO®? No. Currently the only requirement to become a CSPO® is the successful completion of the course. The Scrum Alliance is hard at work to develop an online exam for the CSPO®. So if you love taking tests, wait a bit to enroll in a CSPO® workshop. Otherwise - get it now with us!
• Can I Miss Several Hours of the Workshop and Still be Certified? No. Scrum Alliance does have an attendance requirement. Because Scrum Alliance requires 14 hours of instruction, if you miss more than 15 minutes of the workshop, you will not be eligible for certification, yet you will be welcome to attend the rest of the workshop. Don't worry, if something big comes up, we'll move you at no charge to a future workshop.
• Can I Make Up Missed Material by Attending Part of Another Workshop? No. Amongst other factors, each class moves through the material at different paces. This means it's unreliable to predict a clear window where a set of previously missed LOs will be covered. There are further complicating factors in partial attendance. For the smoothest experience for all, you're welcome to make up missed material by attending a future workshop in full at no charge.
• What do I need to bring to class? You'll need a computer with microphone, camera and speakers. Use https://fast.com to test your internet connection. After the download numbers stop, use the "more" option to calculate your upload speed. You'll need 5 down / 1 up - and more is better. Now, while you're in class you'll be actively using your computer to participate in exercises, so plan to peek at your email only during a break or at lunch.
