Crypsis Trio at DADA

James Wengrow Crypsis Trio is an Avant-Jazz group led by the Brooklyn-based Australian guitarist and composer, featuring Danish bassist Mathias Jensen and NY-native James Paul Nadien on drums. Amalgamating jazz, free improvisation, 20th-century classical music, and math-rock, James’ music has been described as “delving deep into territory that is as much Fugazi as it is [Miles] Davis” (Sonic Abuse) and “the perfect stop-over for curious rock fans looking to branch out into jazz and vice versa,” (Bandcamp). The trio has played with the likes of Anna Webber, Tony Malaby, Ravi Coltrane, Jacob Sacks, Tim Berne, Marike Van Dijk, Brooklyn Qawwali Party, and the Flying Luttenbachers.
