Dear Bishop McDevitt Alumni, Students, Friends and Family,We are incredibly honored and excited to announce that, in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, we will be holding our first Crusaders vs Cancer 5K on our campus! The event will be on Saturday, October 19th beginning at 8:00 am at 1 Crusader Way and we invite our alumni, current students and their families/friends, as well as our Central Penn Crusaders youth football program to join us in our inaugural event.
This event is a fun way to get active and raise money both for cancer research through the American Cancer Society, as well as our school and youth organizations. Fifty percent of all of the proceeds raised will be given to the American Cancer Society as a donation from the Bishop McDevitt community.
Anyone participating will be able to run or walk the 5K (3.1 miles) starting on our newly refurbished track in Rocco Ortenzio Stadium and either continue on through our beautifully scenic and esteemed cross-country course on campus, or complete the event doing all of the laps around the track. Gift cards will be given for the top 3 finishers of each “team.” Teams will be composed of alumni, students, and youth organizations. Those participating will register and raise funds as a part of their respective team in competition against the others to see which team raises the most money.
You do not need to register and participate on race day in order to contribute!! You can support a team, become a sponsor, or simply give a general donation through our online PledgeIt event registration/ donation page or via the paper form. For businesses purchasing sponsorships, our tax exempt code is EIN: 23-1424025. Checks or cash can be mailed in to the school addressed to Austin Lescanec at 1 Crusader Way, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
