Crows and ravens have fascinated humankind ever since the creation of the enigmatic Lascaux Birdman cave painting some 18,000 years ago. For this workshop, Rick de Yampert – author of the new book Crows and Ravens: Mystery, Myth, and Magic of Sacred Corvids – will explore the weird ways of these amazing creatures.
As evidenced in myths, legends and even historical accounts, the uncanny abilities and behaviors of crows and ravens have led cultures around the world to regard the birds as sacred and supernatural creatures.
Rick will relate tales from the ancient Norse, Celts, Native Americans and other cultures that reveal how those peoples forged mystical connections to crows and ravens, part of the family of birds known as corvids, He will also relate modern-day tales, including his own, of synchronicities, eerie encounters and even magical manifestations involving the birds.
The workshop also will explore the science of crows and ravens – they remember faces! – and ways to build communion, both practical and magical, with these intelligent beings. The workshop will conclude with participants sharing their crow and raven stories.
Workshop fee is $20. Prior to the workshop, Rick will hold a book signing from 1 to 2 p.m. Books will be available to purchase in the Vedic Moons Shoppe.
