Crowdsourced Conservation Day: Preserving Westminster's Tailoring Heritage
About this Event
This hands-on experience, in preservation of collections, under expert supervision, is offered as part of our current project: “Threads of Elegance – Conserving the Legacy of Beale and Inman Tailors.”
The session aim to build awareness, skills and appreciation for heritage preservation while contributing directly to the care of our archives.
The day schedule offers an introduction to preservation through:
1. A guided behind-the-scenes tour of the archives
2. Training in the handling and care of archival materials
3. Dry cleaning items from the Beale and Inman textile collection
The next available sessions will take place from 10:30 am to 2.00 pm with half an hour lunch break. Lunch is NOT provided but plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits available.
