Distance and displacement can reshape a musical identity without erasing it. Stravinsky's Pulcinella recasts 18th-century melodies through a modern lens—an exile making the past unmistakably his own. Andrea Casarrubios's Luz Azul and An-Lun Huang's Piano Trio No. 2 carry that conversation across cultures and generations, their aching melodies holding the loss and gratitude of arriving somewhere new. After intermission, Dvořák's F minor Trio anchors the program: written soon after his mother's death and just before international fame pulled him toward America, it is the sound of a composer on the verge of leaving home, carrying its echoes with him.
