Crowden Presents: The Dolphins Quartet with Owen Dalby and Eric Zivian
About this Event
Most quartets play the canon. The Dolphins write into it. Their new Along the Open Road, composed collaboratively by all four members, opens a program alongside two composers who did the same—Villa-Lobos's First Quartet, in which he builds a Brazilian voice from folk material and his own ear, and Chausson's expansive Concerto, Op. 21, where the quartet becomes an orchestra around violinist Owen Dalby and pianist Eric Zivian. Presented in partnership with Stanford's Emerging String Quartet Program.
Program:
THE DOLPHINS Along the Open Road
VILLA-LOBOS String Quartet no. 1
CHAUSSON Concerto for violin, piano, and string quartet, Op. 21
