Crowden Presents: Complete Brahms Violin Sonatas
About this Event
Crowden Presents opens where Owen Dalby began. He first played the Brahms D minor sonata on this stage in 2002, as a graduating student of Anne Crowden's; he returns with pianist Stephen Prutsman—their first Crowden performance together since 2019—for all three Brahms violin sonatas in a single afternoon. The singing lyricism of the G major, the autumnal warmth of the A major, the urgent drama of the D minor. Brahms wrote them for one violinist, his friend Joseph Joachim, and hearing them side by side is a rare thing: three complete conversations between two instruments, and two great friends, in one sitting.
Program:
Violin Sonata No. 1 in G major, Op. 78
Violin Sonata no. 2 in A major, Op 100
Violin Sonata no. 3 in D minor, Op. 108
