About this Event
Visitors will have the opportunity to row out in the Gloucester Docks in one of several brightly decorated boats and be taken on an audio journey, transported to another life and another circumstance.
A trip in one of the rowing boats transports you into the world of the story tellers through audio stories. The live sounds of the rowing boats and the docks will blend with the recorded audio, to help create a truly engaging and immersive experience.
Crossings was created by Luke Jerram in collaboration with BBC Radio 4 producer Julian May. Luke Jerram’s multidisciplinary practice involves the creation of sculptures, installations and live arts projects. In 2022 alone he had 104 exhibitions in 25 different countries, visited by more than 2 million people.
Crossings is hosted by the Canal & River Trust at the National Waterways Museum Gloucester from 9th August - 3rd September 2023. It is supported by Arts Council England and Gloucester City Council and was originally commissioned by Compton Verney Art Gallery & Park.
Boats can fit a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children), up to 3 adults, one adult and 3 children so please book enough boats for your group. All passengers will be given a life jacket. We are unable to take children under the age of 2 on the boats.
