Instructor: Kitty Savel
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate – Students must have experience with chain stitch and single crochet stitch
Create a necklace crocheted with wire and beads in this fun new class! Students will crochet wire using the basic chain and single crochet stitches. The closure is a lacey, non-conventional strand with no clasp. This unique closure distributes the weight of the necklace so that you can hardly feel it hanging around your neck. You simply slip the necklace over your head. Beads used include a combination of semi-precious stones, vintage beads, and handmade glass beads. Crochet Wire of both 26 and 28 gauges is used. In this statement necklace, the student will play with color and texture, which is where the mixture of acrylic beads, semi-precious stones, and glass beads comes into the final design.
Students will complete a necklace suitable for wearing. This class is for all levels of crocheters. Skills covered include crocheting with wire and braiding three strands together.
Students use both new and recycled beads. The finished necklace is a statement piece of jewelry reflecting the student’s creative choice of color, shape, and texture.
The instructor provides a kit with the materials needed for a complete necklace. The instructor will also provide aluminum crochet hooks and jewelry wire cutters during the class.
Please note *** A materials fee of $25 is due to the instructor at the start of the class.
