About this Event

Crime Fiction Debate: Dead Serious or Dead Funny? at Nuneaton Library

This special Crime Fiction Debate in honour of National Crime Reading Month is a lively and engaging event for adults to explore different styles of crime writing through debate, performance, and audience participation. As part of this celebration, we’ll pit two distinct approaches against each other: serious, social, and psychological crime fiction (championed by Dr Pamela Mason) versus lighter, life-affirming, and comic crime (represented by author Heide Goody).

The audience will listen, enjoy short live readings performed by members of Baddesley Amateur Theatrical Society, and vote for their preferred style in a fun and interactive session.

These sessions are great for:

  • Exploring new authors, sub-genres, and perspectives
  • Sharing thoughts and reflections on the crime genre
  • Connecting with fellow readers in your community
  • Discovering what our libraries offer
