Creative Writing: Writing the Basic Building Block of Scene
About this Event
A scene does not need to begin with drama. Sometimes it begins with a person entering a familiar room and noticing one detail out of place. Sometimes it begins with a question, a silence, a message, a look, or the moment someone can no longer pretend everything is the same.
In this Writer’s Room workshop, we will go back to the basics of scene writing. We will explore how a scene starts, what gives it movement, and why something needs to shift, even in the smallest way.
We’ll begin with a short craft chat on the idea that a scene is not just a person thinking or remembering. A scene is a moment where something changes. Then we’ll move into a guided writing prompt, a starting sentence, and focused free writing time.
This workshop is for anyone who wants to write fiction, memoir, autofiction, personal essays, or simply get words onto the page in a supportive space.
No writing experience is required. Writers working in any language are welcome. The workshop will be held in English.
