WRITER'S ROOM: A guided writing workshop on how objects can hold memory, emotion, history, and the things we struggle to say directly.
About this Event

Some objects are never just objects.

A key, a mug, a coat, a photograph, a receipt, a piece of jewelry, a book, a kitchen tool, a note folded into a drawer. The things we keep, hide, lose, give away, or cannot throw out often carry more than their practical use. They can hold memory, grief, love, shame, longing, family history, or a version of ourselves we no longer know how to reach.

In this Writer’s Room workshop, we will explore how objects can become powerful tools in writing. We will look at how a simple thing on the page can reveal character, relationship, place, and emotional history without needing to explain everything directly.

We’ll begin with a short craft chat on objects in writing: how they create texture, how they carry meaning, and how they can help us enter a memory or scene. Then we’ll move into guided writing prompts, a starting sentence, and focused free writing time.

Participants are welcome to bring a small object with them, but this is optional. You can also write from memory or imagination.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to write fiction, memoir, autofiction, personal essays, or simply get words onto the page in a supportive space.

No writing experience is required. Writers working in any language are welcome. The workshop will be held in English.
