About this Event
Discover watercolours and learn how to bring animals and botanicals to life through atmospheric washes, delicate layering, and expressive mark-making.
This workshop explores a blend of controlled technique and creative looseness, guiding you from soft, flowing backgrounds to lively, textured animal studies. You’ll learn to build depth through glazing, create luminous highlights with lifting and negative painting, and use energetic brushwork to suggest fur and organic detail.
Throughout the session, you’ll complete warm-up exercises, guided studies, and a final personal piece that brings together botanical elements and vibrant wildlife. Perfect for adults with some basic watercolour experience or adventurous beginners, this workshop encourages experimentation, play, and the development of your own unique style—all while building confidence with watercolour’s most captivating techniques.
Antoinette Brown is an artist and art educator specialising in drawing and painting. Her practice explores the intricacies of human experience, primarily through graphite and works on paper. She also teaches watercolour and other media, bringing a thoughtful and considered approach to both her artwork and teaching. Antoinette has exhibited with the Reading Guild of Artists and Wells Art Contemporary this year, whilst also receiving the Marie Dyson Award and the St Cuthberts Mill Award for works on paper.
This workshop is for adults. Please note that this workshop needs a minimum number of bookings to go ahead.
