Creative Walkshop: Weather, Climate, and Emotions

Join us for a creative “walkshop” exploring how changing weather and climate shapes our lives, memories, and feelings.

This walkshop - or 'walking workshop' - will blend gentle walking, reflective drawing, and guided art activities, led by artist Helen Ainsworth and researcher Dr Rosie Knowles.

We’ll take a short walk near Hilldrop Community Centre in north London (weather permitting), and pause to observe our surroundings. Back indoors, we will continue our creative investigations and reflect on how temperature affects us: from our bodies to our behaviours.

With pencils, pastels and paints we will explore how we remember heat waves in the city in times of cold. All materials will be provided, however you are welcome to bring your own drawing materials too. We will use a variety of drawing and painting techniques.

We welcome all abilities and experience levels. Come along if you are interested in the weather, art, memory, climate change, or exploring your local environment in a new way.

This event is suitable for adults and young people aged 18+ and welcomes wheelchair users and all access needs.

This event is part of the Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 6 - 15 November 2025.
