Creative Voices, Collective Power
About this Event
Join artists, city officials, arts administrators, cultural workers, creative entrepreneurs, and community advocates from across Contra Costa County on Thursday, October 1 for an evening of conversation, connection, and collective action.
The Bay Area Artist Census (BAAC) is a first-of-its-kind, artist-led initiative designed to gather critical data on the material conditions, needs, and challenges facing artists across the region. As one of six participating Bay Area counties, Contra Costa plays an essential role in ensuring the voices of our local creative community help shape a more equitable and sustainable future for artists.
This gathering is more than an information session—it's an opportunity to build relationships, share lived experiences, and help define the questions that matter most. Together, we'll explore the economic realities facing artists, identify barriers to sustaining creative careers, and discuss the policies, resources, and investments needed to strengthen the Bay Area's creative ecosystem.
The evening will feature facilitated community conversations, opportunities to network with fellow creatives and civic leaders, live performances by Contra Costa artists, and light refreshments.
Your story matters. Your voice belongs at the table. Together, we can build the data, partnerships, and collective power needed to advocate for affordable housing, fair wages, sustainable careers, and a thriving future for artists across the Bay Area.
