Creative Shift: Secure the Bag!

Join us for this 3-part hybrid workshop series led by industry specialists, who’ll be providing you with top tips, resources and ways to make and manage your money as a creative! The ‘Cost of Living Crisis’ is affecting different people in different ways, and we won’t be shying away from addressing the big issues that matter to you.

Expect empowering, supportive and action orientated sessions where you’ll get the chance to learn, ask questions and ‘have a go’ at activities to put what you’re learning into practice.

The industry specialists delivering the sessions this year are: Kei Maye: Creative Consultant and founder of the learning platform: Creative Champs, Eniola Akinlabi a Start-Up Business Coach & Self-development Specialist and Timi Merriman-Johnson founder of Mr MoneyJar, a UK-based financial education company.

You can come along to one or all of the sessions, you just need to register on Eventbrite to receive updates and information.

This workshop series is intended for students from priority groups, in line with UAL's commitment to the Access & Participation Plan and Creative Shift's strategy to diversify the creative industries and support students from underrepresented backgrounds.

If the Eligibility Criteria does not apply to you, we would encourage you to take a look at other similar programmes and opportunities that may be of interest here instead.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• Home (UK) student

• Studying on an undergraduate degree course at UAL (or recently graduated in 2020, 2021, 2022)

AND one or more of the following statements apply to you:

• I am a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic student

• I am a care leaver or care giver

• I am disabled according to the Equality Act 2010

• I have taken part in the UAL Insights programme

• My parent(s)/ guardian(s) have not completed a University Degree.

FAQs:

I don’t meet the eligibility criteria, can I still attend?

Yes, you can still attend; however, please be considerate of your fellow students for whom this programme was intended, and be mindful of your behaviour and actions in the space.

Who can I contact about my access requirements?

Is there any financial support available to help me attend the in-person sessions?

If childcare, travel money, or anything else may be preventing you from attending or taking part in the sessions, please do drop us a line and we can discuss what type of support we may be able to provide as we have bursaries available. Everything is confidential and there is no need to be embarrassed.

What if I can't attend one of the workshops?

You'll get the most out of the programme if you attend all the sessions, but we realise that this isn't always possible! The sessions are designed so that you can come to one or all of the sessions and we’ll be capturing contents covered in each and sharing this throughout the programme.

I am not familiar with the Zoom platform, any help available?
