Creative Fabric Pumpkins

Suitable for Beginners who are confident using their sewing machine.During this class you will create 3 fabric pumpkins using fabrics of your choice in three different sizes. The pumpkins will be sewn together using sewing machine and hand stitching. It is an opportunity to make a seasonal item which can be used for display or given as a gift. Your pumpkins can be any colour that you would like and this would be a good opportunity to use any larger left over pieces from other projects or matching to a colour scheme in your home. There will also be a chance to make them into a more formal display should you wish.
You will learn: To use basic pattern templates, cut and pin shapes together and stitch to create a 3D shape, look and pattern placement. Use basic machine stitches to construct your pumpkins but also look at any built in decorative stitches. Use basic hand stitches for some elements of the pumpkin and leaf embellishments.
Included in the class:
Tuition for the day in a small group environment which will enable 1:1 help where needed.
*Pattern templates in 3 sizes for each pumpkin for you to use and take home.
*Basic instructions with information related to the project to take home to make more!
*Inspiration sheets to give further ideas and possibilities for your pumpkins before making and to inspire once you get home.
*Felt and embroidery threads for making the leaves and stalks.
*Twine and other string to embellish your &nished pumpkin.
You will need to bring:
*A basic sewing kit to include fabric scissors, pins, ruler/ tape measure, hand sewing needles, small scissors to snip threads.
*Small bag of toy stuffing which can be purchased from the shop or recycle stuffing from an unwanted cushion pad but needs to be soft in texture.
* Cotton fabric of your choice, the pumpkins will be made in sections so having different fabrics or at least 3 patterns/colours would be good.
Approximate sizes of fabric needed-
Large pumpkin 45cm x 45cm,
Medium pumpkin 40cm x 45cm,
Small pumpkin 30cm x 45cm
*Your sewing machine which needs to be in good working order, a couple of bobbin spools and matching sewing thread for your fabric and spare needle ( just in case!).
* Glasses if you wear them.
