Creative Photography Park Walk with Logee Photo and Parks of Calgary

Join local photographer Jillian Logee on this fun and creative Parks of Calgary photowalk collab! Jillian will take you through Dale Hodges Park and teach you all about composition, finding interesting angles, and how to unleash your creative side through photography.

For fall, we'll get to see the beautiful autumn foliage and soft October light. Hues of yellow, red, and amber will all be at our disposal for capturing this striking time of year through creative photographs. The crisp transition from summer to fall will be on full display for participants to try out new photography techniques and develop their own sense of art & composition.

We'll spend two hours honing our photographic eye through the ins and outs of Dale Hodges Park, a landscape that features a wonderful blend of wild nature and urban convenience. From the paved pathway, we'll branch off to check out some winding trails, complete with views of the beautiful Bow River on one side and dense vegetation on the other. This park is an excellent space for nature photographs with a landscape that changes dramatically through the seasons.

All cameras (including phones) and experience levels are welcome!

What you'll need to bring:

• Good footwear, as there will be a lot of walking and some trail exploring
• Your camera: film, digital, smartphone - your choice!
• Appropriate dress for the weather: sunscreen, windbreakers, rain gear - be sure to check that forecast!
• Water

What you'll learn:

• The basic rules on how to compose a photograph (and how to break those rules!)
• How to add depth and dimension to your images using the world around you
• Finding interesting perspectives
• How to use light to your best advantage
• Using props for fun and to develop your own style
• Basic editing to really make your work pop
