Workshop: 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Over eight weeks, we’ll explore the elements that give creative nonfiction its emotional and narrative power, including voice, structure, scene, pacing, reflection, and tension.
Through guided discussions, close readings, generative exercises, and peer workshop, students will develop and refine a personal essay while expanding their understanding of contemporary nonfiction techniques.
By the end of the workshop, students will leave with a revised or substantially developed draft of a personal essay and a stronger sense of their own narrative voice.
Workshop Goals
By the end of the 8 weeks, students will:
- Strengthen their understanding of intermediate creative nonfiction craft techniques
- Develop more intentional approaches to voice, structure, and narrative movement
- Learn revision strategies that deepen clarity, emotional resonance, and complexity
- Practice giving and receiving constructive workshop feedback
- Leave with a revised or substantially developed personal essay
- Build connections within a supportive community of fellow writers
