Creative Kids: Paint Your Own Bookmark Workshop!

Hello families! Kate here, a local artist with a love of watercolor, joined by my son, who loves making and gifting art.

Inspired by painting together, this mother and son team invite you to an afternoon of creating. We love exploring watercolors side by side, and we are excited to offer a simple, joyful creative space for your children to do the same.

A little backstory:

When I first started painting with my kiddos, I caught myself interrupting with suggestions like “maybe not those two colors together” or “what if we tried it this way instead.” I was picturing the end result before they even started! Over time, I learned that the real magic happened when I stepped back and let their curiosity take the lead. As parents, it's so natural to jump in and share what we know, right? 

Well, this workshop is a gentle invitation to do the opposite and see what unfolds!

During this session, your child will paint their very own bookmark from start to finish. This is a process focused activity designed to encourage experimentation, intuitive creating, and playful decision making without pressure. The goal is exploration, confidence, and the pride of making something all on their own. And bookmarks are a fun way to bring their art into everyday life.

All supplies will be provided in a safe, clean space. My son and I will offer friendly, non directive support if a brush feels tricky or a color question pops up, but otherwise we will happily let your child’s vision lead the way.

A Note for Parents:

You know your child best. You are welcome to stay close by for encouragement, or sit alongside them and make your own bookmark. As a parent, I simply encourage you to give them the space to choose, mix, and experiment freely. It is always amazing to see what happens when we do.

Cost: $5 per bookmark, or 3 bookmarks for $12. Cash or card accepted.

Finished bookmarks will be laminated on the spot to preserve the artwork.

Drop In Format: No reservations needed. Come anytime during the event window and stay as long as your child needs to create.
