About this Event

Intentional Healing Yoga Session with Shavasana Acupuncture

Yoga led by Albert Fung, with Shavasana Acupuncture by Pier Derrickson, LAc. at Note to Self Wellness in Olde Kensington.

Sunday June 5th, 2023 from 5-7pm

Albert will lead you in a customized protocol where each pose is designed to help bring awareness to any imbalances in your body, and provide balance through breath, visualization and movement. Albert's gentle and accessible yoga practice activates and challenges the whole body and calms the mind. During shavasana, Albert will lead a guided meditation, while Pier places needles promoting a deeper relaxation experience.

Albert’s yoga practice is based on intuition and helping one to connect with the wisdom of the body. If life affects the mind, and the mind affects the body; when we learn to work with our body, we gain insight to our mind and to our life. Albert’s approach is meditative and precise. “I seek both strength and ease — what the sutras call “sthira sukham”. My sensitivity and experience work towards alignment and balance in order to support well-being and depth in practice. I facilitate you to have an exquisite experience of your being.“

Albert Fung is a Philadelphia-based artist, art-instructor, and yoga instructor.  He was born and raised in San Francisco, California. He earned his BFA in Printmaking from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York and his MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Albert painted and exhibited in New York City from 1993 to 2011.  Since then, he has been based in Philadelphia.

Albert earned his Certificate of Yoga Teaching in 2015 at Motherheart Yoga Sangha in Fishtown. He has taught at Motherheart, The Breathing Room in Port Richmond, The Healing Fields in Northern Liberties, and is currently holding classes at his art studio in Olde Kensington.

Albert began practicing yoga in 2003, mainly Classical Yoga and Anusara, with many forms of Vinyasa, but also Iyengar, Ashtanga, and several forms of hot yoga. He considers each of these practices to have shown him different facets of a jewel. He gravitates towards Classical Yoga because of its philosophical intention, and Anusara because he finds its precision beautiful and deepening. “I have been a seeker. As my practice continued to unfold, I began to feel better in my body, to be healthy. I had no idea at the time how far the rabbit hole would go or how much I had to learn. I have come to peel back many layers on the way to myself.”
