About this Event

Hear from key researchers in the field, including Professor Annette Markham, Professor Kat Jungnickel and Mother Cyborg in this public workshop open to all.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Digital futures research requires shared endeavours to address ‘wicked problems’ which are heterogeneous, dynamic and contingent. Creative methods, often inspired by practice-based approaches from arts and design, provide imaginative scaffolds to support critical reflection on futures that may seem inevitable. Co-production approaches value varied perspectives and experiences, including those marginalised from traditional technology design and innovation. Futures approaches help to map out preferred as well as plausible futures.

Join us to explore the perspectives of international interdisciplinary researchers on creative approaches, cross-sector collaborations and making more inclusive, sustainable and joyful digital futures. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Annette Markham (Professor, Utrecht University, CenSoF and BDFI Visiting Fellow)
  • Kat Jungnickel (Professor, Goldsmiths, University of London)
  • Diana Nucera, aka Mother Cyborg (musician, technologist, community organiser and educator)
  • Paul Clarke | Rebecca Coleman | Keri Facer | Melissa Gregg | Viv Kuh | Marisela Lopez Guiterrez | Helen Manchester | Jessica Ogden | Debbie Watson (all University of Bristol).
