About Katy:
Katy Osborn’s career has gloriously zig zagged, yet creativity, connection and a fascination for human behavior shine through it all. Her experiences culminate in her latest endeavor, Nowhere Collective, which exists to inspire and shift our culture toward radical compassion for people and planet. We offer imaginative workshops to grow communities of sustainability-minded humans paired with a directory of upcycling artists, creators, makers and repairers - all so we can keep our one and only planet and go nowhere together. Within the Directory, Katy will soon be offering her own clothing repair service with embroidery “textile tattoos.”
Katy grew up surrounded by imaginative, crafty, resourceful people. Fascinated by the magical inner workings of the mind, she focused on behavioral psychology in college, which led her to a career in advertising in Chicago. To meet people, she joined the Chicago Conservation Corps, which sparked her personal commitment to sustainability. In 2012, Katy co-founded a boutique creative studio with her two sisters working with women-owned, mission-driven businesses. One of their clients inspired the sisters to produce a documentary, Head to Head, the ultimate ethnographic deep dive into human behavior and mental health. With the film, Katy fell head first into creative community-building. Over the last decade, her individual eco-conscious actions felt smaller and smaller in the face of accelerating climate disasters, which compelled her to harness her full set of skills and passions to launch Nowhere Collective.
