                                    	About this Event
Repair can be a contemplative way of making, looking at what we have to hand and responding to those things. In this workshop we will try out 2 different ways of repairing ceramics decoratively – making a ‘golden join’ and a method using paper.
This workshop is perfect for beginners. No previous experience or expertise is necessary.
All materials will be provided but please feel free to bring any damaged ceramics you might wish to discuss repairing.

 Artist bio:
Bridget Harvey is a maker and repairer, who hand-works discarded objects into one-off or small-batch artefacts, using traditional and new materials and methods, and utilising techniques from multiple disciplines such as drawing, textiles, print, and conservation methods.
Bridget takes a broad and playful approach, incorporating fragments, waste, often-overlooked materials which manifest the detritus of our lives now. By making and curating artefacts, Bridget re-stories the familiar and reconstructs the forgotten. Repair, reuse and transformation shape propositions; debris and remnants, once reformed, speculate on what could be.

Broken / Makeshift is an exhibition that celebrates contemporary craft by finding the beauty in everyday objects and explores how our emotional attachment to them can survive a break, fracture, or tear.
The show and surrounding programme will highlight modern and historic methods of mending, inviting a conversation about how our relationship to things has changed since the popularisation of mass-production and the recent resurgence of upcycling, repurposing, and repair.

When attending a workshop you can receive 10% off within the Gallery Shop on the day of your session.
