About this Event

Find out more about the various gardens and green spaces at Westminster Abbey, which formed an intrinsic part of the monastic layout and still flourish to this day in the heart of London, carefully tended by an enthusiastic horticultural team.

On this 60-minute tour you will see:

  • Dean’s Yard, a green oasis tucked away within the Abbey’s precincts.
  • College Garden, the country’s oldest cultivated garden, which was used in monastic times to grow food and medicinal herbs. Includes a visit to the Abbey’s beautiful greenhouse, dating from 1929.
  • Little Cloister Garden, a tranquil space with a fountain, originally set aside for recouperation after illness.
  • St Catherine’s Chapel Garden, created within the ruins of a chapel.
  • Cloister Garth, with its memorial fountain commemorating Lancelot Capability Brown.

The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and there is a maximum of 15 people per tour.

This event does not include entry to Westminster Abbey.

This event is part of the Creation Season. Join us this summer in College Garden to engage in events that explore our interconnectedness with the natural world.
