Workshop Schedule
1. 9 -12: Introduction & Presentation (2 hr)
o ppt presentation and demonstration on facial muscles of expression , comparative expression (human/animal)
o Case studies: physiognomy, Darwin & Duchenne expression studies
o Using human/animal hybrid masks and puppetry in performance, Commedia dell’Arte, War Horse, Noh theatre

2. 12-13:00 Lunch break
3. 13:00-14:00 Sketching & Concepting (1 hr) from animal anatomy observation
o Draw 2–3 character expressions (human, animal, or hybrid)
o Reference FACS, grimace scales, or stylized archetypes

4. 14:00 -1600 Armature Construction airdry and Paperclay Sculpting (2 hrs)
Use foil, cardboard, wire, or recycled materials to form base
o Demonstrate symmetrical structure and features
o Apply layered texture to build facial features
o Use sculpting tools to define expression
o Use transparent layers to show "muscles" in artistic masks
o Create "emotion sets" (e.g. anger, joy, fear) for a single character
o Explore hybrid animal-human masks with accurate musculature
