About this Event

Hosted by ChangeHR, this one-day, in person event is a great opportunity to explore the importance of understanding neurodiversity in the workplace.

In the UK, one in seven people are neurodivergent. However, many choose not to disclose their neurodivergence due to stigma, misunderstanding, or a lack of support. This makes creating an inclusive environment more important than ever. Despite growing awareness, neurodivergent employees often face barriers that prevent their strengths from being recognised and fully utilised.

Drawing on his personal experience as a late-diagnosed neurodivergent professional and parent of neurodivergent children, Paul advocates for meaningful change in the workplace. His presentation will include:

What is Neuro-Activism, and why do we need it now?

The challenges she has faced as a neurodivergent employee.

The barriers that made it difficult to thrive at work.

The types of support, understanding, and adjustments that made a positive difference.

Reflections on how organisations can create truly inclusive environments.

This honest and insightful keynote offers an invaluable first-hand perspective, helping organisations better understand the lived experience of neurodivergent employees and what meaningful inclusion looks like in practice.

Understanding the Legalities

Info: Explore how to develop an organisational learning mindset that fosters a positive, inclusive culture.

Understand both direct and indirect discrimination, and ensure your policies provide appropriate protection for neurodivergent employees.

Clarify the legal definition of disability, recognising that while not all neurodivergent conditions are automatically classed as disabilities, many may qualify under the law.

Shift the focus from diagnosis to impact, assessing how an individual’s neurodivergence affects their ability to carry out day-to-day work, rather than relying on medical labels alone.

Identify potential risks associated with “invisible” disabilities, such as lack of awareness, disclosure challenges, and the complexities these can create when managing performance or misconduct issues.

Strengthen employer knowledge and confidence to avoid misinterpretation of behaviours, ensuring that reasonable adjustments are applied fairly, consistently, and proactively.
