About this Event
Learn how the flood risks to Delaware communities can be addressed and mitigated. This course covers basic risk and hazard concepts; Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mapping; the Delaware flood insurance program; tools to prevent hazards in a cost- effective manner; and strategies for reducing exposure.
Examples presented will include:
• New National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) sea level rise mapping information
• Recommended strategies for reducing vulnerability and exposure
• Community flood risks, hazards, and related climate trends
• Recommended strategies for reducing vulnerability and exposure
• Tools and resources for community adaptation, resilience, and sustainability planning
This session qualifies for credit toward the Certificate in Local Government Leadership and the Certificate for Planning Education.
