Create Your Own Rain Garden (A)

Want to plant a small rain garden on your property, but need help with the what, where, when and how? This program is for you.

The program has three parts:

1. Preparation. A zoom presentation on Sunday, March 26, 5:00-5:40 P.M. will share basic information and leave time for questions. (The session will be recorded for those who can't make it.) Over the course of the spring, you will choose and start preparing the site for your new rain garden.

2) Workshop. An on-site workshop at Wild Gardens Nursery in Cortlandt Manor will give you the opportunity to select and bring home a flat of 50 young seedlings of your choosing for the rain garden.

3) Follow-up. It's recommended that you leave the seedlings in the flat, keep them well watered until the hot weather has broken, and put them in the ground in September. The plants will need to be watered regularly for the rest of the growing season, but should require little supplemental water in future years.
