Create your own needle felted garden picture

Come and join Rachel as we explore the world of needle felted gardens. This is your chance to create a picture based on a special memory or what you'd like your ideal garden to be. Suitable for beginners as well as those who have needle felted before.

Based at Sutton Coldfield Methodist Church, this three hour workshop will teach you everything you need to know about creating your own 5"x5" picture. This can either be created as a square or a circle if you want to mount work within an embroidery hoop. Please note a frame is not included.

You will be able to choose the colours you want to work with and placement as we go through the process step-by-step. Participants are encouraged to develop their own designs that are unique to them.

You will learn:

- how to create a needle felted background using merino wool and other fibres.

- add embellishments and threads to your picture.

- mount your finished art work.

Inspiring resources will be provided but please bring along a photo of a favourite garden if you'd like to recreate that instead or use as inspiration.

This is a lovely way to connect with friendly, like-minded creatives as well as trying your hand at something new. There will be no more than 6 people taking part so you'll get plenty of guidance when needed and time to ask lots of questions.

Your workshop is led by Rachel creator at Hobbz Designs. Rachel is an artist who was inspired to start creating eight years ago after attending a surface textiles course at the Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham. Rachel has also worked within education as a teacher and has a Foundation Art and Design qualification.
