Join Eilidh Weir and learn how to transform scrap materials, such as old clothes and salvaged ropes, into unique bowls and baskets. Using simple hand-stitching techniques, you will explore how to give discarded fabrics a new life, creating decorative yet functional objects. Date: Monday 13 October 2025
Time: 12:00 - 16:00
Price: £65
Eilidh will guide you through the meditative process of wrapping and stitching, inviting you to bring along any unwanted clothing to weave into your piece. This workshop highlights how making can spark conversations about waste, reuse, and our relationship with materials. Additional fabrics will be provided to compliment any items brought, ensuring everyone can take part. Suitable for all levels of experience.
By the end of this session, you will have created your own basket or bowl and developed skills to continue making at home.
All tools and essential materials will be provided; however, you are invited to bring any old garments so that we can repurpose them into beautiful and useful new objects. Spaces are limited, so it is recommended to book in advance.
Eilidh is a maker inspired by ecological systems and the recycling of materials, creating textile works, sculptural pieces, and objects from reused fabrics, plants, and single-use plastics.
This workshop is part of HARVEST: Contemporary Craft Fair, where you can explore a vibrant cross-section of contemporary craft being made in Scotland today.
