Make a Needle-Felt Mouse!

Whether you are new to needle felting or have some experience and want to learn more, this workshop is designed for you. Needle-felting is a fun and quick-to-learn craft. You can successfully produce charming creatures regardless of your level of experience but watch out, it is addictive and you will want to keep learning more!

Time: 10:30 AM - 4:00 PM, 30 min break for lunch

We’ll start with working on a simple mouse design which uses a soft sculpting technique and adding needle and wet felted embellishments. If time allows, we can start working on a second creature and experiment with other techniques and embellishments. Fay will bring lots of examples for ideas and will be happy to explain techniques for you to experiment with in the class or on your own!

We’ll be discussing:

• The needles and how they work - how you can use them effectively and efficiently (and, most importantly how not to poke yourself or break the needle);
• Sculpting techniques such as soft sculpting to create contoured surfaces and hard rolling forms to make your efforts more efficient;
• Embellishing the surface and attaching small objects to add character.
• Fay will provide the wool, 3 needles and a foam block per person plus an instruction sheet.

All the materials needed will be provided but registrants may also bring their own tools if they choose.

Please bring a packed lunch or lunch money for somewhere nearby!

About the Instructor:

Fay has been wet and needle-felting for over 20 years and has taught felting at several locations and on-line. She has had her work in a variety of galleries, shows and sales. She is a member of the Sheep Creek Weavers and the Bragg Creek Artisans and the International Felting Association.
