Create a Long Silk Scarf Workshop

Summary
Join us for a relaxing hands-on workshop where you'll learn the art of creating beautiful Long Silk Scarves with Natural Plant Materials.

Itinerary
A brief introduction about workshop tutor Claire Mellalieu and her journey to Botanical dyeing.

Silk scarf printing

During the session, you will learn how to dye a 25 x 150 cm long silk scarf using the Bundle Dyeing technique. This natural steam process draws out and fixes colours from pressed flowers and leaves, creating clear botanical shapes on the fabric.

Bundle Dye Steaming & Tatakizome printing Gift Card

While the steaming process takes place guests will learn another printing process for a gift card: Flower pounding, or Tatakizome, which is an ancient Japanese technique of hammering plants to create a print.

The Big Reveal

This is the most exciting stage! Guests will unwrap their bundles and plant materials to discover their print. Bundle dyeing is completely unpredictable, which is where the beauty lies.
