Crawling for Hope RC SCX30 competition!
There will be prizes for winners!
This contest is open to family and friends! However, competitors must be at least 10 years old to participate and accompanied by an adult parent or guardian. Younger kiddo's are free to spectate! Anyone between 10 and 15 years must be truck assisted by a parent or guardian for the duration of the competition.
All proceeds for the competition will go to the Hope Mission. So if you would like to donate on their website prior to the competition date, please bring a copy of the donation receipt with you.
Entry fee is $10 per adult and $5 for kids.
There are TWO class 1 trucks and TWO class 2 trucks available to borrow if you don't have your own. These trucks will be shared to whoever needs one to participate.
Competition rules will be as follows:
There will be TWO courses for class 1 and ONE course that will be shared for classes 2 and 3.
10 minutes will be given to complete each course.
1 point for a reverse
5 points for a flip *use a hand and must flip back as it lies onto tires*
10 points for a gate touch *Watch those tires!!*
10 points for a recovery *truck needs to be placed in a safe spot*
-10 points for bonus gate
20 points for overtime
Tie breakers are settled by who finished the course in the shortest amount of time.
There will be three SCX30 classes allowed in the contest. Classes are based on the upgraded condition of the truck, Class 1 being stock/out of box. Class specifics are below.
So the competitors are aware, the competition course has been built using the SCX30 scale RC crawler. The Redcat Ascent 32 can be used however the SCX30 may have an advantage over it in stock form.
The SCX30 Chevy K10 gets an automatic 5 point penalty due to its longer stock shocks and bigger tires.
Any vehicle bigger than 30 scale is not allowed.
Class 1 (Box Stock / Street)
Chassis & Frame: Factory stock frame rails and skid plate layouts.
Tires & Wheels: Maximum tire diameters (around 33mm–35mm).
Allowed Modifications: Only basic/stock servo replacements due to failure.
Restrictions: No four-wheel steering (4WS), no dig transmission, and no battery-on-axle (BOA) setups.
Class 2 (Mild Performance / Sportsman)
Focus: Entry-level custom builds and affordable progression from stock.
Chassis & Frame: Stock chassis required, though some allow basic aftermarket upgrades. Skid plates must remain flat.
Tires & Wheels: Maximum tire diameter (around 40mm-42mm)
Allowed Modifications: Upgraded electronics (brushed motors only), brass/aluminum weight additions, and shock/link upgrades and tweaks.
Restrictions: Bodies must remain mostly intact and cover a designated percentage of the tires, no four-wheel steering (4WS), added weight is only allowed if it is a mechanical addition ie: no hanging/glued weights to the truck.
Class 3 (Modified)
Focus: High-performance modified builds with creative freedom.
Chassis & Frame: Aftermarket performance chassis and angled/high-clearance transmission skid plates are permitted.
Tires & Wheels: Whatever you can fit.
Allowed Modifications: Brushless motors, custom link geometries, extensive brass weight parts, and full cages or trimmed cab-only bodies.
Restrictions: None.
