Crankies are illustrated scrolls encased in wooden boxes that act as “moving panoramas.” Though supposedly originating in as early as the 18th century, crankies continue to be fun and imaginative modes for sharing folklore, oral histories, and stories.
In this performance, Asheville-based artist Jessica C. White provides a brief introduction to crankies, followed by a performance of her latest work accompanied by live music. This event is free with registration.
