This is a walk of around 11.5 miles, which starts from the small town of Cranbrook, in the Kentish High Weald. It is however, a completely different circuit to that which the group did recently on Sunday 14th September 2025. The route heads across the undulating landscape of the Weald of Kent, there are no big hills, but expect lots of ups and downs with some good scenery, it could also be muddy in places.This route commences by passing beside Cranbrook Union Windmill, which is a Grade 1 Listed Industrial Building, and is open to the public on occasions during the Summer months. We then head across open countryside, meadows and isolated pockets of woodland, making progress towards Swattenden and onward to Hawkhurst.
Continuing on, we pass through Ockley to reach Gill's Green, where there is the opportunity for a pub drinks pit stop at the Great House. There will of course be the usual picnic lunch stop at a suitable point during the course of the walk.
We return to Cranbrook via Bedgebury Forest and Badger's Oak, and for those wishing further refreshment, in the High Street you will find Larkins' Alehouse, which a few of us popped in at the finish of the September walk.
Dogs welcome, but on short lead when required.
