Become a jewellery designer for a night!
Art meets fashion when contemporary maker Mika brings her eclectic, architectural jewellery design to MoB for a very special Crafty Party.
Grab a glass of bubbly, and settle in for a walk-through of Mika’s design practice, before trying your hand at sketching out your own design. Then put theory into practice as you bring your creation to life with guidance from the artist.
Each participant will take home a one-of-a-kind piece inspired by Mika’s design philosophy.
Workshop includes:
2.5 hour designer-led workshop
All sketching and making materials supplied to make a statement necklace
A glass of bubbles thanks to our friends at Symphony Hill Wines or a soft drink
About MIKAs Design
Originally a graphic designer, Mika developed her jewellery making skills working with silver. She started designing pieces for her mum but, over time, her mum found heavier weight jewellery less comfortable to wear and some of the clasps and closures difficult to manoeuvre.
Hence the idea of working with softer materials was born and Mika started to create soft non-toxic sponge rubber which is incredibly lightweight. She also included magnetic clasps making the pieces easier to put on and take off. Mika then started to wear her own designs too and was constantly complimented on her pieces and asked if she would sell them. And now she does!
