Do you love children’s books? Ever think of writing your own? Bill Memorial Library is offering a unique opportunity to examine, explore and create children’s literature with Winsome Bingham in this six-week class, “Crafting KidLit: Writing for Tiny Tots through Tough Teens.” An author and editor at ReyCraft Books, Bingham has her first picture book, Soul Food Sunday, coming out in November and holds an M.F.A. in writing for children and adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. You can find her at binghamwrites.com. All classes meet at the Bill Memorial Library on the following Tuesdays from 6-7:30 pm: October 5, 12, 19, 26; and November 2, 9 (masks are required). Should it become unsafe to meet in person, classes will be held on Zoom. This program is free, though Bingham requests that those who are able donate to the library. Class size is limited and registration is required. Four textbooks are strongly suggested (some will be available for checkout at Bill Memorial). Please call the library at 860-445-0392 for more information.
The Bill Memorial Library is located at 240 Monument Street in the City of Groton, next to the Groton Monument and Fort Griswold. The library turned 130 years old in 2020 and welcomes everyone to use our computers and Wi-Fi, and browse our extensive collection of books and media for children, teens and adults, including downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, museum passes and discount tickets.
