🌼 What is the Significance of Narcissus?
Narcissus, or Shuixian (水仙), is an important plant for the Lunar New Year in China. The ability of narcissus to bloom with nothing but water and sunlight has led them to become associated with immortality. A special type of narcissus from Fujian Province, termed “crab claw narcissus” (蟹爪水仙) is a subspecies whose bulblets can be carved early to distort the growth of the leaves in a visually appealing way.
