Coyote Point Habitat Restoration Volunteer Event

Nestled between San Mateo and Burlingame, Coyote Point Park boasts picnic areas, a small beach, a marina, and even a children's museum. Beyond its popular recreational facilities, this park also serves as a home to the threatened Ridgway's rail and many other special shorebirds. Come join us Saturday, June 3rd as we work to restore key wetland habitat within the park!

• We will begin with a 1/2 mile walk down a paved trail.

• Our work will include walking on slippery mud, as well as bending and kneeling as we use garden trowels to remove weeds. We will provide tools, gloves, and "kneelers" (foam pads used to cushion knees during gardening.)

• We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing you don't mind getting dirty for your protection and comfort. Weeding will occur on tidal mudflats, so clothes might get especially messy, and waterproof boots are recommended

• Sunscreen, snacks, hats, and layers are also great to have on hand in case the weather gets warm or cold. If weather conditions are deemed too extreme, this event may be canceled and we will reach out to participants by email.

• There a restroom and potable water will be available at our restoration site, but we still recommend that you bring a personal water bottle for each member of your group.

If signing up as a family or a group, please adjust the number of volunteer sign-ups according to the number of volunteers in your party when filling out your registration form. Groups of eight or more must contact [email protected] at least seven days in advance to register.

Volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or guardian.

• Youth under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

• Our programs are recommended for ages 10 and up.
