About this Event
Join us to hear from two world-class coxswains, Pete Cipollone and Colette Lucas-Conwell! Ever wondered what it’s like to try to steer straight with the whole world watching and a gold medal on the line? How about being the first female athlete invited to a men's Olympic rowing selection camp in US Rowing history?
Limited brunch will be provided. This is a free event, feel free to tip for boats. Also be sure to check out Pete’s company Turazo, a recruiting platform that helps companies improve their hiring and retention processes by connecting candidates with employees.

Pete Cipollone Bio
Pete coxed the US eight to a gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He also coxed the men’s eight at the 2000 Sydney Olympics when they finished fifth. Cipollone won four gold medals at the World Championships, leading US crews to victory in the eights in 1997-99 and the four in 1995. He won eight medals in total at the Worlds—adding silvers in the 1994 four and the 2003 eight, with a bronze in the 2002 eight. Cipollone attended Cal Berkeley. He went into technology consulting, eventually forming his own technology and management consulting firm, Turazo.
Colette Lucas-Conwell Bio
Colette was the first female athlete invited to a men's Olympic rowing selection camp in U.S. rowing history. At the 2023 Pan American Games, Colette won gold coxing the mixed eight and silver for the women's eight. Earlier in her career, she won gold with the U.S. in the Women’s Eight at the 2015 and 2016 World Rowing U23 Championships. Colette was born in Paris, grew up in Palo Alto and attended the University of Virginia. She currently works at Visa in a two-year rotational program for former elite athletes.
