A project funded by FiPL
Meet conservation grazier Amelia Lake and explore the Rewilding Project at Helman Tor. During this site visit we will explore this new project by Cornwall Wildlife Trust and explore how independent conservation graziers The Real Food Garden work with conservation organisations.
We will explore the benefits and challenges of combining conservation goals with a beef enterprise, as well as the difficulties faced by new entrants. Meet the Tamworth pigs used for bracken control and habitat creation and the English Longhorns chosen for the site. The event is led by Amelia Lake, founder of The Real Food Garden, pioneering regenerative food producer. Amelia is the grazier for the 220 acre site which includes poor quality farmland and biodiverse reserves.
Amelia is a new entrant farmer and entrepreneur focused on direct sales and with a passion for quality and the restorative power of farming. The Real Food Garden is a regenerative food business producing high quality vegetables, eggs, pork, hogget, and beef for direct customers. Amelia will share her experience in getting started, direct sales, and marketing as well as collaborating with landowners to achieve mutual goals.
