20th century Scottish poetsThis month, Cowal u3a is pleased to welcome Christine McIntosh, a local published poet.
Christine grew up in Glasgow. Educated at Hillhead High School and Glasgow University, she counts herself fortunate to have been taught for her MA by the poet Edwin Morgan. She taught English in Woodside Secondary School, Hillhead High School and - for the majority of her career - in Dunoon Grammar School, where she realised that her favourite classes were when she was teaching poetry, and where she was reunited with Edwin Morgan when he was a visiting writer. His poems are among her favourite Scottish writing.
Christine will be looking at half a dozen poems from the 20th century by four Scottish poets - Edwin Morgan, Norman MacCaig, Margaret Hamilton and Carol Anne Duffy.
