Courtney Pauroso is a Los Angeles-based actress, writer, teacher, and clown. She has appeared in Jackass 4, Key & Peele, 2 Broke Girls, The Opening Act, VHYes, Reno 911, and Like & Subscribe. She went to high school in San Angelo, TX. Go bobcats. This guest artist is teaching a class!!
This workshop is for anyone looking to expand their approach to performance through clowning technique. You will do exercises that have a focus on connecting with your audience and exploring the absurd, beautiful, and strange. Take this workshop if you want a different pathway into your sketch, improv and writing work OR if you just want to have a blast and get weird! All experience levels are welcome for this workshop!
COREY PODELL and COURTNEY PAUROSO have been friends and collaborators since they met at The Groundlings Theater in 2009, where they still occasionally teach and direct improv. Corey recently directed John Norris's clown show, "Mr. Chonkers" and together with Courtney co-devised Courtney's one woman clown show, "Gutterplum", both of which had successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Courtney performs deranged clown bits all over Los Angeles and both are members of LA's most notorious mask show, "Clown Zoo".
JOHN NORRIS has a background in improv and sketch comedy (UCB, Groundlings, iO West, Second City). This past 8 years he has been training, performing, and teaching Clown and Bouffon technique. He has been a teacher at the Idiot Workshop in Los Angeles for the past 5 years. He has performed at festivals all over the world and loves introducing new people to these techniques and ways of performing.

LOW: Masking is optional
MEDIUM: Masking inside is encouraged and highly appreciated for audience members and staff but optional for performers. Quality face masks are available at the box office, however mandatory masking is NOT enforced.
HIGH: Masking inside is mandatory for audience and staff. Proof of vaccination or a negative test is required for entry. Shows could be postponed or cancelled.
