About this Event
A short seminar aimed at new and prospective humanitarian practitioners as a primer on the fundamentals of humanitarian work. Each session includes a Question-and-Answer session with an experienced speaker to provide a unique perspective on the realities of deployment.
What you'll learn
By the end of the seminar, you will be able to:
- Explain the disaster management lifecycles and describe what humanitarian aid and disaster response are.
- List the four common types of intervention around health, food security, WASH, and shelter.
- Explain the Humanitarian Charter, Protection Principles and Core Humanitarian Standards.
- Describe the role of humanitarian volunteers and professionals in the sector.
Who this course is for
This course is aimed at those who are new to the humanitarian sector or considering a pathway into it. Ideal for:
- Mid-career professionals exploring humanitarian service
- Students or youth looking for meaningful humanitarian engagement
- Anyone in the “curious but unsure” stage about humanitarian practice
