About this Event

In this workshop, we're taking the time and space to reflect on our personal experience and beliefs, and together explore race in our lives and the lives of others.

Glenn Singleton, author and creator of Courageous Conversation™ will be in Australia and will be joined by members of the team at Courageous Conversation South Pacific Institute in a unique opportunity to have the discussion on racial equity.

The Courageous Conversation Protocol® will provide us with tools, strategies and parameters to engage, sustain and deepen conversations about race, racism and racial equity.

Themes
  • Race relations in Australia and how we got to this point
  • Institutional racism in Australia and how it impacts on our day-to-day lives: who it impacts, how and why this conversation matters
  • Indigenous, colour, multicultural -where are the tensions and how do we move forward
  • The causes of racism
  • Are we talking about race when we talk about racism?
  • The Courageous Conversation protocol as a tool to have the hard conversations that lead to change

This lived experience has been the basis for the insights and passion brought to her work in equity, diversity, and inclusion.

She was the Manager, Cultural Diversity at Victoria University and an active researcher and academic. She is also a former Commissioner of the Victorian Multicultural Commission and remains a member of the Regional Advisory Council.
