Howdy yall, I'd like to introduce myself in case I do not get around to speak to everyone who attends & for those who did not attend the last few classes. I'm Sam & I will be your instructor, along with a few other friends that are experienced line dancers yall can follow along with. I started line dancing about 9 years ago & it definitely has become my biggest passion.
As the instructor, my main goal is to make sure everyone has fun. Don't be afraid to try line dancing because you think you will mess up or will get embarrassed if you do mess up. I, myself have been line dancing for a very long time but I am still learning myself, not perfect & make mistakes as well so with that being said, please don't feel shy, overwhelmed, or worried you will not be good enough or afraid you’ll mess up. We are all there to have a good time, meet some new people, & learn how to line dance without judging anyone. Please don't be afraid to ask questions during the class as well.
How I got interested in line dancing:
I started dancing at age 3 practicing Ballet/Pointe, Tap, Jazz, & Modern/Lyrical/Contemporary. After many years of practice, I became a Dance Demonstrator for my local dance studio then soon after that became an Assistant Teacher. I became very interested in country music & line dancing. I attended my first line dance class at the HonkyTonk in Dunmore, PA & absolutely fell in love. I made so many friends from there & we all go out line dancing wherever we can now.
Now that you know a little bit about my background with dance, here's how Thursday night will go. Lessons are FREE!! The first hour, I will teach 3-4 easy beginner dances & at the end of the lesson I will teach 1 improver/intermediate dance. If you feel overwhelmed, don't be afraid to ask questions like I had mentioned before. Me or the other experienced dancers will absolutely be happy to help!! After the lessons, we will finish the night with "Open Floor" which means I will play the songs you learned along with other songs that have line dances to them & yall can tag along & follow the experienced dancers that know those dances. They will start off with easy beginner dances then progress to intermediate & more advanced dances as the night goes on. I will also be taking music requests for line dances as well. This class is absolutely open to anyone, new dancers & experienced dancers, ladies & gentlemen!!
For those of you who have never line danced before and/or thinking they don't like JUST country music, line dancing isn't done only to country music; we dance to pop songs & some rock and roll as well. The majority of it is danced to country music but there are dances that go to "Low" by Flo Rida, "Fireball" by Pitbull, "Yeah!" by Usher, "Blue Suede Shoes" by Elvis Presley & "Burn it to the Ground" by Nickelback just to name a few!!
I would like to thank The Railyard for giving us this opportunity for country nights & we are incredibly happy to be part of their regular entertainment!
There will also be a Donation Tip Boot available for anyone who wishes to tip. All tips collected during the night are donated to a charity. Also, please take care of your bartenders for the night while they are busting their butts behind the bar.
Hope to see yall on the dance floor?
